Commission FAQs

Are you currently accepting commissions?

Yes! I am currently accepting commissions. In fact, commissions are my most common type of work. I love working with people to create a custom piece of art for their specific space.

What is the commission process like? What can I expect?

Inspiration

The commission process starts with you doing a little research, browsing or mood-boarding to get some inspiration and an idea of what kind of piece you want.

  • Which past pieces of mine are you drawn toward and why? (Pictures are highly encouraged and welcomed to help me understand what catches your eye.)

  • What is it that you like about them – the texture, solid sections of color or smaller mixed sections?

  • What dimensions and orientation will fit the space best?

  • What color palette do you have in mind?

  • Do you have a preference in materials used? (Do you prefer 100% natural fibers like pure wool and cotton? Are you okay with any use of synthetic or blended fibers?)

I will be glad to help you sort through any of these details if you’re unsure or want some additional guidance or direction. If you have pictures of where it’s going in, that’s also very helpful and welcomed so I can get a sense of the overall space.

Quote + Deposit

Once we have these details worked out, I’ll provide a final quote for the piece, including any associated shipping costs. Half of the total price is required upfront before starting the commission. The second half is due upon completion before shipping/delivery. Payments can be made through an invoice with a credit card, or through Venmo.

Pricing is typically determined by square foot (shipping not included). Factors such as material/fiber selections and finish – whether it’s a standard hanging piece or whether it’s framed – are built into the final price quote.

Designer discounts and adjusted rates are available for commissioning multiple pieces at once.

Process

Prior to starting on the commission, I will put together a general fiber selection/color palette and (by request) a digital mockup for approval. Once approved, materials will be ordered – it may take up to two weeks to receive everything before I can get started. Throughout the process, I’ll provide pictures and updates to ensure we’re on track and on the same page throughout.

How long do commissions take?

Commissions are generally a 8-12 process for my typical larger woven pieces. These timeframes begin once the initial payment is received and designs/fiber selections are approved.

Let’s make your dream a reality.
